lakeshore chiropractic EXPERTLY TREATs WITH:

Lakeshore Chiropractic’s philosophy is based on the premise that holistic care addresses more than just bones!

Addressing all aspects of musculoskeletal problems include managing:

  1. Altered joint motion and quality of motion

  2. Muscle and soft tissue injury

  3. Nervous system control of the stabilizing muscles of the affected joints

The individual aspects of each injury are best addressed through a unique combination of manipulative therapy and rehabilitative exercises specific for each case.

Chiropractic Care

There is a large misconception that all chiropractic care is manipulation of the spine. While in fact it is a profession dedicated to the care and recovery of musculoskeletal injuries through conservative care methods.

Here at Lakeshore Chiropractic, our team is trained in a variety of techniques used to assess and treat musculoskeletal problems. These can include manipulation, soft tissue (muscle) work, and rehabilitation plans. We are specialists in conservative management of all injuries and provide a hands-on alternative to surgery or pharmacology.

Manipulation

Manipulation is when a practitioner finds joints that are restricted or stuck in a range of motion and restores motion to them. Joints can become stuck for a variety of reasons such as posture, poor/compensation patterns of movement, injury, pain, movement dysfunction and more. Manipulation of blocked joints has many positive benefits, such as restoring normal joint function, normalizing muscle tone, pain being decreased and improved communication between your body and brain.

Mckenzie Method

The Mckenzie Method classifies a patient based on their mechanics, and customizes treatment based upon that classification. Simply put, physicians look for ways that you can manage your condition at home in the time outside of your appointment. This often involves exercises done repeatedly. The Mckenzie Method is the most researched method of treatment in the physical therapy/chiropractic realm.

DNS

DNS or Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization is a system of examination and treatment that revolves around optimal movement patterns. It looks at the development of proper function and movement and applies specific exercises to help return a pattern that has become dysfunctional and/or painful to that function.

Physical Rehabilitation

Physical rehabilitation involves the use of specific exercises to correct movement dysfunctions. These exercises can involve strengthening areas, stretching others, mobilizing joints or a mixture of all. These exercises follow a progression to take you from pain and dysfunction to your best self.

Sports Injury Management

Sports Injury Management is a dynamic and ever changing process. There are multiple things that must be considered with managing a sports injury from how it occured, where in the season is the athlete, to what are the underlying factors. A successful treatment plan for a sports injury takes all factors into account and puts a plan before the athletes feet to take them from injury back into performance and to prevent the injury from recurring.

Soft Tissue Treatment

Soft tissue treatments are often used to help reduce pain, promote healing, normalize muscle tone and improve signaling to the brain. There are a wide variety of soft tissue treatments. Some use hands on techniques to actively release muscles, others use tools or cups to assist. The style and type of soft tissue treatment selected is always specific to your case.

Kinesio Taping

Kinesio taping is the application of a specific type of tape to an area. This tape has a few different effects. First, it stimulates signals to the brain from the area, improving communication between the region and the brain. The next is what is called the tenting effect, where the tape actually lifts the skin layers away from the underlying tissues, allowing things to slide and glide better. These combined effects lead to a decrease in pain and normalized muscle tone and function.
